A staircase is not a set of separate steps but one volume: treads, risers, landings, side pieces, skirting up the wall and the balustrade. We make all of it from one batch of stone, so the colour and the figure run top to bottom without a break.
A staircase is measured as built, not as drawn: a real concrete stair almost always varies in step height and in the angles, and the stone is cut to that rather than to the drawing.
Granite is chosen where people walk a lot and in outdoor shoes: entrances, stairwells, public buildings. Marble and travertine go indoors. A polish is beautiful, but on a tread a flamed or honed finish is often the right answer, because wet polished granite is slippery.
We do not take on concrete or steel structures. We dress a staircase in stone and make every stone element, including the ones usually forgotten.

How these photographs are made
About these photographs. The stonework in every picture is ours: measured, cut, finished and installed by Endel Company, and photographed on the job. A finished floor is usually photographed while other trades are still working around it, and our customers do not want their homes shown in public. So the room around the stone is replaced with a composed scene. The stone itself, the cut, the joints and the polish are exactly as we made them, and are never generated.
